A minimum deposit of $10 is needed to open the account, and the minimum balance needed to obtain the Annual Percentage Yield is $.01. Interest is paid on balances up to $50,000. The Simple Home Savings product is available in MA and CT only and is designed to save toward a first time home purchase and not as a transactional account. Simple Home Savings account holders can earn up to $2,000 in credit toward closing costs ($500 after 6 months of account opening, $100 at each account anniversary, $100 when pre-qualifying with PeoplesBank, $50 if a First-Time Homebuyer Course is completed). Only one closing cost credit for a prequalification and one closing cost credit for the First Time Homebuyer course. Mortgage closing cost credits are valid toward a PeoplesBank mortgage only.
