Value Proposition: PeoplesBank Retains Young Talent by Keeping Employees Engaged

HOLYOKE, MA (March 1, 2017) – According to a recent Gallup study, only 40% of millennials feel strongly connected to their company’s mission and that is a problem because they currently make up 38% of the U.S. workforce. With that percentage continuing to rise, BusinessWest turned to PeoplesBank and Janice Mazzallo, Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer to learn about the bank’s approach to retaining young talent..

“Values is something we get right in the organization,” stated Ms. Mazzallo. “Attracting millennials isn’t just about having the right employee benefits, though we do that. We also recognize that millennials — and all employees, for that matter — want to connect; when they go to work, they want to feel engaged, that what they do matters.”

Philippe Michaud, Loan Service Associate, Alisa Feliberty, Call Center Manager and Robert Raynor, Assistant Vice President, Compliance also explained how the bank’s efforts to keep young professionals engaged with the company’s values and connected to the community are among the qualities their generation values in an employer.
