Leadership In Eco-Friendly Practices Earns PeoplesBank Best Local Green Business
NORTHAMPTON, MA (August 11, 2014) – Voters around Hampshire County have recognized PeoplesBank’s environmental sustainability leadership, voting the bank Best Local Green Business in the Daily Hampshire Gazette Reader’s Choice Poll.
The award is the latest recognition of the bank’s commitment to energy saving practices, green construction and green energy financing. To date, PeoplesBank has financed over $70 million in sustainable-energy projects and built three LEED® registered offices. The most recent LEED® registered branch opened at 300 King Street in Northampton [VIDEO], and features floor-to-ceiling windows, uses highly efficient HVAC and LED lighting systems, and minimizes water use with special plumbing fixtures and drought-resistant landscaping.
In celebration of the green values the award recognizes, PeoplesBank will hold several “eco-events” to say thank you to Hampshire County communities. These events will include two free e-recycling days, during which the public is invited to bring old TVs, computers and monitors for free recycling.
