ReGreen Tree Restoration

PeoplesBank Helps To ReGreen Monson, Springfield, West Springfield,
Westfield and Wilbraham

As part of its recent $200,000 commitment to area tornado relief, PeoplesBank has donated $80,000 to replant trees in five of the impacted communities.

"One of the benefits of living in western Massachusetts is our close connection to the environment. The mountains that rim the valley, our many rivers and lakes, easy access to open space, and the trees that line our streets are not attributes we take lightly. In fact, they are critical components of our lives and the defining elements of what makes our region such a great place to live.”
 - Douglas A. Bowen, President and CEO

The bank’s re-greening efforts are:

  • Springfield: City officials have designated three areas for replanting using the donated funds of $40,000: the Sixteen Acres/Parker Street area, Roosevelt Avenue in East Forest Park, and the Old Hill neighborhood of the city.
  • West Springfield: PeoplesBank just opened its environmentally friendly, LEED®-registered office on Memorial Avenue. The bank will donate $15,000 to target the Union Street area for re-greening.
  • Wilbraham: $10,000 of the re-greening funds will be used to plant trees on Main Street and Tinkham Road.
  • Monson: Town officials and the bank are targeting the Main Street area for replanting with its $10,000 donation.
  • Westfield: PeoplesBank will provide the town with $5,000 for trees at the Munger Hill School.
